FAQs
Will my solar system pay for itself?
Yes! As electricity prices go up, so does the amount you save. You will be paid double for any power you send back into the grid, if you do not send any power back to ther grid because it is used up, you will still gain huge savings. If you install a system that takes care of 75% of your $1000 power bill, that leaves you with an annual power bill of $750, if the price of power doubles, most people would be paying S2000 a year, where as you would only be paying $500 only!

What is the lifetime of a grid connected to the solar panel system?
In excess of 20 years‘ most panels are guaranteed for 25 years.

Where are the solar energy panels installed?
The panels are generally installed on the north facing roof of your house, shed or garage in an area that maximises sun exposure and has minimal shading.

Why do the solar panels look so different?
Different types of solar panels use different technologies Crystalline solar panels are high wattage and ideal for limited space. Thin film solar panels are low wattage and require more space but are more resilient to shading and heat loss. Solar SA represents a number of solar panel brands. each home is different and Solar SA will recommend the technology and configuration best suited to the unique characteristics at your home.

Will a grid connected solar panel system protect me from blackout?
No. If there is a disruption to your electricity supply your grid connect system will shut down. This is a safety feature set by the Australian Safety Standards. Your system will automatically recommence operation once normal electricity supply is restored.

How does grid connected solar work?
Solar panels convert sunlight into direct current [DC] Electricity. However, DC electricity is not compatible with our electricity grid (which runs on altemating current or AC electricity). This DC electricity therefore travels to an inverter which converts the DC electricity into AC electricity. Once converted, the power is then used by all the applionces in your home. Excess or unused electricity flows to an ETSA supplied import/ export meter and into the power grid. This exported electricity will be credited to  your power bill — at double the amount your electricity provider actually sells the power for.

Does my grid connected solar panel system work in cloudy weather?
Solor energy systems are highly reliable and work in all types of weather. As long as the sun rises and sets, your solar system will produce electricity. On partly cloudy days, they turn out as much as 80% of their potential energy.

How can I see how much power is being produced by my solar panels?
The inverters have a communication’s screen built in so you can monitor the system performance. There are additional communications devices available to allow more detailed monitoring and  to  provide a more comprehensive diagnosis.
